What does language mean to you? 'Heart and Sky'
Welcome!
We are really excited today to bring you as promised, some of the individual artist responses. Three questions were posed during the project, the first being 'What does language mean to you?'
Artists were able to respond creatively to the question in any creative medium of their choice, and the responses have been overwhelming. When I first began to think about this idea as a project, it was really important for me to include as many different voices as possible, and also allow the freedom for everyone to explore the questions and respond in whatever way they wanted to.
Heb Ffiniau translates as 'Without Boundaries', and that is really the ethos behind the project, to be able to talk, explore, share and create without boundaries.
All responses shared over the next few weeks are part of the research and development process, the seeds of ideas, and not finished pieces of work, I am really grateful to everyone involved for being open to sharing some of the process publicly.
Today we're bringing you some wonderful responses from Faye Wiggan, and Lara Ward. These are responses to the question 'What does language mean to you?'
Faye responded with two beautiful pieces of work, that really come from the heart. Faye is a performer and actor with Hijinx, one of Europe's leading inclusive theatre companies, here are a few words from Faye -
'I have been singing, acting, and dancing since I was 5 years old, I'm into poetry and song writing. Heb Ffiniau helped me explore who I am and work with new lovely people. I love photography and I'm quite adventurous, I love rock climbing. After lockdown I'd love to travel the globe.'

Our second response today comes from Lara Ward. Lara is a movement artist based in South Wales, and has extensive experience working and touring as a freelance dancer and also in community arts management. You can find Lara on Instagram and follow her current Artist Conversations Podcasts here.
In response to the question 'What does language mean to you?' Lara spoke of time spent outside thinking about the question and looking up at the clouds and the expanse of sky. To me this response absolutely encapsulates the vastness of the question, it is such a big question, perhaps too big to answer, and this work is a wonderful reflection of that.

We hope you've enjoyed this first glimpse into the research and development process. Thank you for stopping by, come back soon!
